Hmm interesting question this - so though I would open this up as my first little Grade 11/ 12 competition this year. You must answer in the comments to this post, but your answer must not be general and must include facts and links that back up your argument.
You will obviously need to find the following:-

11. The average desktop computer can manage one million instructions every second. The Japanese company RIKEN claim that their supercomputer model MDGrape-3 can execute one quadrillion instructions per second. However, it is not fully recognized as the fastest computer. The ‘official’ fastest computer is the BlueGene/L by IBM, which can handle 360 trillion instructions in one second.
2. As partially explained in the previous answer, computers work by executing instructions given to them. This is also known as the process of having an input and an output.
3. The human brain is able to comprehend sight, noise, taste, smell and touch. It is able to do this with instant recognition and few, if any mistakes. Our brains are composed of one trillion cells with 100 trillion connections between them. Roughly, ten quadrillion instructions are being executed every second within a fully operational human brain.
4. In this case, the human brain is ten times faster than the ‘unofficially’ fastest supercomputer. Even more, it is almost 28 times faster than the ‘officially’ fastest supercomputer. Although the human brain might eventually be surpassed by computers in terms of speed, we are the winners for now.
